I am the founder, owner and director of ‘HWA’ a New York based Floral Styling & Design business. Birthed out of my passion for harvesting flowers and plants, combined with my career in interior design and marketing, the mission of the business is to  ‘bring life to spaces’ through florals and greenery and craft an everlasting experience for people.

 

When I was growing up in South Korea, our family celebrated annually on April 5th for Tree Planting Day. Every year I was fortunate to have grandparents that lived on a farm that made it so natural for me to adopt the tradition of nurturing plants and flowers.  During summer breaks, I would plant a seed of a vine that bloomed flowers as it grew, all while recording the process of growth. I always found it so fascinating and satisfying to watch life grow each day - caring and monitoring the plant as it came to full bloom.

 

I have always had an eye for laying colors and matching textures, which led me to my several years experience in New York within the interior design industry. I’ve now taken this design experience and infused the craft of styling to florals.

 

Bringing together the uniqueness of flower shapes, shades, natural elements and scents really is such soul-filled ‘work’ for me. Gathering and creating a bunch of blooms that reflects a story - whether of season, to elevate a space, or compliment an event, experience or occasion truly is my calling. My purpose is to evoke people’s emotions and create experiences in environments that will last in people's minds forever.  

 

Since starting HWA I have had the pleasure of being featured among New York Fashion Week events, styling for niche events such as Chef Day’s dinner parties, styling for several Hampton holiday homes and being featured in the Amazon Pop-up for Novogratz furniture.

 

My capabilities span from personal flower bouquets, wedding party arrangements, home styling, large corporate events and commercial services for offices or conferences. With a completely boutique approach, I work with each person to understand their vision and bring it to life from understanding all elements of their desired experience.
